Charity Initiatives
On March 1, BOD Chairman Wang Shi and WWF (China) CEO Jim Gradoville signed the memorandum on sustainable cooperation in environmental protection including protection of endangered species in the Everest,carbon emission reduction and trade of forest products which established a strategic framework for Vanke’s efforts in sustainbable environment in future five years (2012-2016). Mr. Cradoville indicated that this was the first time WWF coorporated with a Chinese enterprise and "an opportunity to demonstrate an enterprise’s leadership and build up its sustained competitiveness."

Vanke established the 3C Foundation in U.S. to support the community charity volunteer project of Chinese students in famous colleges in eastern U.S. and help them win respect and recognition in American communities.3C represents China-College-Community,and Compassion-Courage-Cooperation.On February 4,3C Foundation made its first donation to the 2012 Ivy League party celebrating the Spring Festival.
On March 31,the Earth Hour day, Vanke will launch the 10-week Community Voluntary Carbon Emission Reduction Program “Sign up for our Dream”—.The Earth Guards will visit door-to-door in Vanke communities to publicize environmental protection and low-carbon philosophy,and recommend for residents carbon emission calculators.Property owners in communities may log in “Sign up for our Dream” to set their CER (carbon emission reduction) goals, enter family emission data every day and honor their CER commitments consistently.They may also share their images or videos through micro blogs in qq.com or sina.com,and their efforts and the result of the program will be announced in Rio+20 Summit on June 20.Please tune in to Vanke TV for updates.

In response to Anxin Flooring Incident on February 16,Vanke immediately started emergency investigation procedures with assistance of quality inspection authority.Purchase of Anxin flooring was halted and unused products have been sealed up.Clients suffering from confirmed damages were assured that Vanke would take 100% responsibility.By March 2,Vanke has handed over 72 groups of flooring samples for inspection,of which 71 have formaldehyde emission lower than national standard according to reports published by 17 quality inspection authorities.The floorings are used in 104 decorated apartments( only 25 families moved in).Vanke has started a flooring replacement process and offered a compensation proposal.Over half of the property owners have signed compensation agreements.

Vanke ranks among the Top 10 as the only real estate company in the 2011 Report on the CSR Competitiveness of Large Enterprises in Guangdong published in January by Guangdong Status Research Cente. Vanke’s practices and achievements in tax contribution,product and service quality,customer relationship,promotion,community charity culture and volunteer are presented as models in the Report.
Exchanges and Dialogues
On February 21, Chairman of Vanke Wang Shi attended APEC SME Summit in Hong Kong and delivered an English speech titled “Benchmark”. Mr. Wang reviewed how Vanke learned from international benchmarks such as SONY, Sun Hung Kai and Pulte Homes, and how it created the professional real estate business management mode. Mr. Wang also answered questions from the audience on the building of management team, start-up of SMEs, strategic positioning of products and product quality.

Community Story
On the evening of February 26, Vanke Liangzhu Cultural Village celebrated the one year anniversary of the Villagers’ Convention signed by the 3,653 households in the village one year ago. In the Convention, villagers pledge to “say hello when meeting neighbors”, “do not talk loudly in public places”, “queue up when taking buses and shopping”, and “respect the aged and love the young”. The villagers also voluntarily organize charity activities, such as driving in a civilized manner, waste separation, Secondhand Cabinet Shop, and DIY soap from waste oil, and develop the neighborhood, environmental awareness and pro-volunteer culture in the community.
On May 21, 2011, villagers initiated the campaign advocating driving in a civilized manner. Drivers of 1,622 cars made commitments such as “do not horn, do not use high beam, drive slowly, and make way for pedestrians in the town”. In addition, a total of 879 cars of Vanke employees, partners and non-property owners were engaged in the campaign.

Project Progress
Thanks to the Children’s Care Project, jointly initiated by Vanke Foundation and Aiyou Huaxia Charity Foundation, 64 impoverished children with congenital heart disease have received free surgery by the end of February 2012. A total of 1,693 children have been cured since the launch of the Project 32 months ago. The total donation has reached RMB 15,508,998.95.
During the nine months since the Spring Action project was introduced, a total of RMB 1,194,190 has been donated to 74 laborers for treating major diseases and paying for their children’s education.
