DSW Provides Information and Sensitisation on Health Issues
The dramatic health situation of people living in the poorest countries of the world goes largely unnoticed in Germany and Europe. This is why DSW actively promotes press and PR work in order to put the topics of family planning and health in developing countries onto the public agenda.
On various occasions we motivate citizens and politicians to act.
International Conference on Sub-Saharan Africa
On October 21 DSW hosted an international conference on “Sub-Saharan Africa: Transforming Population Dynamics into an Opportunity”. It was held in co-operation with KfW Entwicklungsbank, Germany’s leading development bank. International experts from the World Bank, UNFPA, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and high-ranking African institutions gave inputs. About 150 participants discussed the complex linkages between population dynamics and sustainable development in Sub-Saharan Africa and shared best practices on how population issues in Africa can be integrated into development programmes on the ground.
